The Mendel Festival 2026 returns to the university campus in Bohunice. Running from 12 to 19 July 2026, the festival connects the legacy of genetics founder Gregor Johann Mendel with contemporary science and music.

The main day is 18 July 2026, when the campus comes alive with concerts, lectures, children's programming, and gastronomy. Throughout the preceding week, guided tours, science shows, and workshops will take place.

Prague funk veterans Monkey Business are marking 25 years on stage, with eleven albums and three Anděl Awards for Group of the Year to their name. The Roman Holý and Matěj Ruppert-led outfit is known for high-energy live shows packed with musical surprises.

About: Jana Kirschner

Jana Kirschner (born 29 December 1978, Martin) is a Slovak singer-songwriter whose work has defined the trajectory of Slovak popular music since 1996. The album V cudzom meste (1999) marked a turning point in her career and was subsequently recognised as one of the 100 greatest Slovak albums in history. Her extended partnership with producer Eddie Stevens has progressively shifted her aesthetic from pop through alternative rock to folk-electronic textures, most prominently on the Moruša diptych (2013-2014) and the album Obyčajnosti (2024).
