Monkey Business is a Prague-based funk and pop band founded in 1999 by multi-instrumentalist and producer Roman Holý, who also leads J.A.R. and Sexy Dancers. Frontman Matěj Ruppert and vocalist Tereza Černochová anchor the lineup, which has released eleven studio albums over 25 years. The band has won the Czech Anděl Award for Group of the Year three times and remains one of the most consistent acts on the Czech music scene.
Monkey Business celebrated their 25th anniversary with a jubilee concert at Prague's Vyšehrad with special guests Dan Bárta, Ashley Slater, Tony Graves and Imran Musa Zangim.
The band won the Anděl Coca-Cola award for 2024 in the Band of the Year category for their first Czech-language album Když múzy mlčí.
Monkey Business also won the Žebřík poll in the categories Band of the Year and Song of the Year for the song Homo Sovietikus.
The band embarked on a tour for the album Když múzy mlčí, which included stops in Teplice, Frýdek-Místek, Havířov, Pardubice, Mladá Boleslav, Česká Lípa, Plzeň, Olomouc and also in Bratislava and Banská Bystrica.
In August 2024, Monkey Business released the album Když múzy mlčí - their first album entirely in Czech, which featured contributions from actors of the Dejvické Theatre and musical legends.
