Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

Love is worth fighting for, and sometimes literally. Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) would rather do nothing - he plays in the band Sex Bob-Omb and dates his high-school-aged fan. When he meets the mysterious Ramona (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), he falls head over heels. But winning her won't be easy: standing between the couple are Ramona's six exes and one ex-girlfriend, whom Scott must defeat in a series of bizarre life-or-death battles.

Edgar Wright's adaptation of Canadian illustrator Bryan Lee O'Malley's comic series blends action sequences with the aesthetics of old video games and early-2000s humor - and the film surprisingly works as a romantic comedy too. It flopped in cinemas initially, but over the past 16 years since its release, it has earned cult status and a devoted following.
