Gastroherna at the National Agricultural Museum

Národní zemědělské muzeum Praha, Prague

Entry pro children a mládež to 18 let free

Free entry

The Gastronomy exhibition at the National Agricultural Museum in Prague (3rd floor, Kostelní 44, Prague 7) combines a children's gastronomic play area with a professional gastrostudio. The Gastroherna takes visitors through the history of food from prehistoric times through the Middle Ages and Renaissance to modern history – showing what festive dishes looked like in different periods of the agricultural year. Visitors can test their senses: identify spices by smell, cooking sounds by hearing, and foods by touch. Children can try shopping for regional products in a children's shop with food models, process their purchases at a checkout, and print their own receipt. The exhibition also features a colouring corner, dining etiquette lessons, and an interactive game about sorting waste from packaging (in cooperation with EKO-KOM). Behind a glass wall is a professionally equipped gastrostudio where members of the Czech Association of Chefs and Pastry Chefs train and where the Marie Sandtnerová Culinary Institute holds cooking courses led by top chefs. Courses last 3–4 hours and can be booked at kurzyvareni@nzm.cz. The exhibition is open Tuesday to Sunday 9:00–17:00. Entry for children and young people under 18 is free.
