Baroque Encounter with Oriental Tradition: Znojmo and the Jews

Kostel sv. Michala, Znojmo

from 621 Kč · ≈ 26 €

A concert that weaves together European Baroque style with Oriental melodies and rhythms from the Middle East, Mediterranean, and Balkans. The programme features music from Monteverdi to Vivaldi, traditional Sephardic and Arabic songs, Ottoman court compositions, and folk motifs. The Church of St. Michael stands in the space of the former Znojmo Jewish quarter, which stretched primarily along Veselá Street — the concert honours the Jewish community that lived here for centuries and repeatedly faced persecution.

Performers: Maya Amir (mezzo-soprano, artistic director), Pouya Khoshravesh (kamancheh), Eren Can Erol (oud), Emre Can Erol (kanokaki), Noam Lelior Gal (violin), Darina Ablogina (Baroque transverse flute), Carolin Margraf (double harp), Beatriz Lopez Paz (viola da gamba), Diego Chacón Gámez (theorbo and Baroque guitar), Yaschar Coşkun (percussion).
