Šramlfest 2026
The 19th edition of Šramlfest brings alternative music, theatre and visual art to historic Znojmo with views of Podyjí National Park. Headliners include Henge, Snapped Ankles, Bladderstones and more.
Vladimír Václavek (born 16 December 1959 in Rýmařov) is a Czech musician, singer, guitarist, composer and poet whose work spans alternative rock, world music, folk and experimental sound. Since the 1980s he has been a central figure on the Brno alternative scene - first as a member of Dunaj and E, then as a solo artist and co-founder of projects including Rale, Čikori and Edel. He gained international recognition above all through the double album Bílé inferno (1997) with Iva Bittová, widely regarded as one of the finest records in Czech rock history.
The band Dunaj released a new album Mňau in April 2025 with singer Jana Vébrová; Václavek is a co-author of all eight songs.
After the release of the album Mňau, Dunaj undertook a spring tour of the Czech Republic with Václavek, with premieres in Prague and Brno.
In November 2024, Václavek performed with Iva Bittová at the 57th edition of Slánské jazzové dny with a program from the album Bílé inferno.
After a twenty-four-year hiatus, Dunaj released a comeback album Za vodou (2022), on which Václavek serves as the singer and bass guitarist.
