The Golden Voice: A Celebration of Tony Bennett
A tribute concert celebrating the legendary jazz vocalist Tony Bennett at Reduta Jazz Club.
Tony Bennett (1926-2023), born Anthony Dominick Benedetto, was an American singer of jazz and traditional pop whose career stretched across more than seven decades. His warm baritone and mastery of the Great American Songbook made him one of the most celebrated vocal stylists of the 20th century, with "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" (1962) as his enduring signature. Over his lifetime he collected 19 Grammy Awards, sold more than 50 million records, and in 2011 became the oldest artist ever to top the Billboard 200.
On the first anniversary of Bennett's death (July 21, 2024), Lady Gaga commemorated his legacy on social media and included songs from the Love for Sale album in her Las Vegas residency setlist.
At the 2024 Grammy Awards ceremony, Stevie Wonder paid tribute to Bennett as part of the In Memoriam segment.
Tony Bennett died on July 21, 2023 in New York at the age of 96; he suffered from Alzheimer's disease diagnosed in 2016.
The album Love for Sale (2021) with Lady Gaga won the award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 64th Grammy Awards.
Bennett released the album Love for Sale - a tribute to Cole Porter - as his second and final duet project with Lady Gaga; the recordings were made in 2018-2020.
