Šimon Pánek is a Czech humanitarian worker and public figure. He rose to prominence as one of the student leaders during the Velvet Revolution in 1989. Since the early 1990s he has dedicated himself to humanitarian work, serving as the long-time director of People in Need (Člověk v tísni), an organisation providing aid in crisis regions around the world.
