Sergei Rachmaninov (1873–1943) was a Russian composer, pianist, and conductor. He is best known for his richly melodic Romantic works, including his Second and Third Piano Concertos and the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. He emigrated from Russia after the 1917 revolution and spent his later years in the United States.
