Savatage is an American heavy metal band founded in 1978 in Florida by brothers Jon and Criss Oliva. The band built its reputation on progressive and power metal, symphonic arrangements, and concept albums - most notably Streets: A Rock Opera (1991). Their music directly inspired the creation of Trans-Siberian Orchestra. After nearly two decades away from live stages, Savatage returned in 2025 and continues touring Europe in 2026.
The earMUSIC label releases on June 26, 2026 a previously unreleased live recording of 'Madness Reigns From The Gutter (1990)', recorded during the Rulin' Gutter tour and restored from original masters.
The band announced a European tour 'Prelude to Madness' in summer 2026, featuring nine headlining performances and festival appearances including Wacken Open Air.
The Prelude to Madness 2026 tour includes the band's historically first performances in Istanbul, Bucharest, Warsaw and Leipzig, as well as a show at the amphitheater in Pompeii with an orchestra.
In June 2025, Savatage performed ten European concerts including appearances at the Hellfest and Graspop Metal Meeting festivals - the first headlining European tour since 2002.
Jon Oliva will not participate in live performances due to health issues (spinal fractures, multiple sclerosis, Meniere's disease), but remains involved in studio work and creative direction of the band.
