Primus is an American rock band from the San Francisco Bay Area, active since 1984. Their sound blends funk, metal, psychedelia and experimental rock, driven by the distinctive slap-bass virtuosity of frontman Les Claypool. They are known for albums such as Sailing the Seas of Cheese (1991) and for composing the theme song to the TV series South Park.
