Saturnus are a death/doom metal band from Copenhagen, Denmark, active since 1991. Originally called Asesino, they adopted their current name and sound in 1993 - slow, melancholic doom with gothic touches and three vocal styles (growls, clean singing, recitation). Their 1997 debut Paradise Belongs to You is widely regarded as a cornerstone of European atmospheric doom metal. After an eleven-year gap, they returned in 2023 with their fifth album The Storm Within on Prophecy Productions.
Saturnus were announced as direct support for Paradise Lost on the Ascension of Europe Tour Part II in February and March 2026.
The band performed a series of concerts in Great Britain as support for Swallow the Sun (Belfast, Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol, London).
Saturnus performed at Metal Gates Festival 2025 in Bucharest and Under the Doom Festival 2025 in Lisbon.
The fifth album The Storm Within was released on June 16, 2023 on Prophecy Productions and was nominated for the GAFFA Award in the Best Album of the Year 2023 category.
In March 2023, the band announced the fifth studio album The Storm Within - the first new recordings in more than ten years since Saturn in Ascension (2012).
