BEAT - Performing the Music of 80s KING CRIMSON
A concert celebrating the progressive rock music of King Crimson from the 1980s, performed by the band BEAT.
King Crimson are a British progressive rock band formed in London in 1968, led throughout their existence by guitarist Robert Fripp. Over more than five decades they released thirteen studio albums, each typically featuring a radically different lineup, moving from heavy art rock through free improvisation to new wave. Their 1969 debut In the Court of the Crimson King is widely regarded as one of the founding documents of progressive rock. The band last toured in 2021, and as of 2025 are reportedly working on new studio material for the first time since 2003.
Singer and guitarist Jakko Jakszyk confirmed in July 2025 that the band is working on a new studio album - the first since The Power to Believe (2003); management shortly clarified that the release has not yet been confirmed.
Robert Fripp is recovering from a heart attack he suffered in early 2025 in Italy, where he underwent surgery.
Supergroup BEAT (Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, Steve Vai, Danny Carey) announced an extensive European tour in summer 2026, which includes Prague.
On November 14, 2024, Peter Sinfield, co-founder of King Crimson and lyricist of the band's first four albums, died at the age of 80.
Supergroup BEAT launched a North American tour on which Adrian Belew and Tony Levin, together with Steve Vai and Danny Carey, performed repertoire from King Crimson's 1980s albums.
