Kazuo Ohna

About

Kazuo Ohno (1906–2010) was a Japanese dancer and choreographer regarded as one of the founding figures of butoh, the avant-garde Japanese dance form that emerged in the late 1950s. He was celebrated for his deeply poetic solo performances, most famously "Admiring La Argentina" (1977). His studio in Yokohama became a pilgrimage site for butoh practitioners worldwide.
