Josef Topol (1935–2015) was a Czech playwright and poet, one of the most significant figures in 20th-century Czech theatre. His plays, including Jejich den and Hlasy ptáků, were banned during the communist normalization era. After the Velvet Revolution, his work returned to Czech stages and continues to inspire theatre-makers.
