Herbie Hancock (born April 12, 1940, Chicago) is an American jazz pianist, keyboardist, composer and producer whose career spans more than six decades. He rose to prominence as a member of Miles Davis's Second Great Quintet in the 1960s, and his solo albums Head Hunters (1973) and Maiden Voyage (1965) reshaped both jazz and funk. He holds 14 Grammy Awards - including Album of the Year 2008 for River: The Joni Letters - and co-founded International Jazz Day under UNESCO.
Hancock artistically directed the All-Star Global Concert for the 15th anniversary of UNESCO's International Jazz Day in Chicago (April 30, 2026) with more than 40 international artists.
Hancock announced a North American summer tour 2026, which starts on July 26 at Massey Hall in Toronto and includes stops from Baltimore to Hollywood Bowl.
In December 2025, Hancock announced a spring tour of the southeastern USA with concerts in Atlanta, Charlotte, Palm Beach, Sarasota, Greenville, and Nashville.
At the All-Star Global Concert 2025 in Abu Dhabi, it was announced that Hancock's hometown Chicago will host the 15th annual International Jazz Day in 2026.
