Sonny Rollins is an American jazz tenor saxophonist born in 1930 in New York City. Widely regarded as one of the greatest improvisers in jazz history, he is known for his powerful tone and inventive phrasing. His landmark album "Saxophone Colossus" (1956) remains a cornerstone of the jazz canon.
