About

Alcest is a French band from Bagnols-sur-Cèze, founded in 2000 by vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Neige (Stéphane Paut) as a black metal solo project. Since drummer Winterhalter joined in 2009, the duo has released seven studio albums and is widely credited with pioneering the blackgaze genre - a fusion of shoegaze and post-black metal rooted in Neige's childhood mystical visions.
