About the venue

Komenského sady is a large park on the left bank of the Ostravice river, covering around 30 hectares with some 3,000 trees - one of the biggest urban parks in the Czech Republic. It took shape at the turn of the 20th century and has carried the name of scholar Jan Amos Komenský since 1919. A cycle path runs through the park along the river, and there are tennis courts, children's playgrounds, and cross-country ski trails in winter. The park borders the New Town Hall and contains a 1946 liberation monument.
