The House of Culture on Velká Hradební is Ústí nad Labem's main cultural venue, opened in May 1964 under the name "Trade Union House of Working People". Architects Helena Láchová Skálová and Jaroslav Lácha designed it in the style of abstracted classicism; the foyer features etched glass reliefs by René Roubíček. With a capacity of 2,700, the complex holds a theatre hall, cinema hall, representative hall, puppet stage and gallery, and is run by the city's Cultural Centre.
