A theatrical adaptation of Michel Houellebecq's latest novel - according to the author, also his last - about the loss of meaning, relationships that failed to endure, and a world where faith in a better future has evaporated. European identity is crumbling, the far right is gaining strength, and the political system is collapsing.
Paul, a close aide to the minister, observes this breakdown from both outside and within: his father is seriously ill, his marriage is not working, relationships with siblings are strained or non-existent. The boundary between political events and private life blurs. The question of whether life can be happy is never asked aloud - it simply hangs in the air.
