Family Opera: Mendel Megaking – Premiere

A chamber opera inspired by the life of Gregor Johann Mendel, the founder of genetics. The story unfolds in a contemporary primary school, where Mendel symbolically "comes back to life" as the school caretaker Jandl, and pupils embark on adventures connected with his research in the school garden. The opera is intended for both children and adults.

The work was created in collaboration with the Faculty of Music at JAMU in Brno – the faculty's students are responsible for the complete production: staging, set design, costumes, direction, leading roles, and the orchestra.

The premiere is part of the Znojmo Music Festival, which builds on the success of Jakob Sommer's opera from last year.
