From May 15 to June 13, 2026, the 22nd Festival of Museum Nights takes place, organized by the Association of Museums and Galleries of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture. The festival marks the International Museum Day (May 18) and involves 646 institutions in 203 cities across the country. The national opening of the 22nd festival took place on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the conference hall Alšovka in Znojmo, which celebrates 800 years since its founding this year. The event was held under the patronage of South Moravian Region Governor Jan Grolich and Znojmo Mayor František Koudela. The Znojmo Museum Night began at 5:00 PM and was titled "On the Wings of the Eagle" – referencing the city's coat of arms. The programme took place at three locations: Alšovka, the Minorite Monastery, and Znojmo Castle. A tourist train ran between the sites all evening free of charge (stops: Přemyslovců Street and Alšova Street). Visitors could view exhibitions and displays, watch the audiovisual show "Mysterious Places" by Visualove studio, enjoy concerts, theatre and dance performances, a fire show, creative workshops, a falconry demonstration with eagles, the minting of a commemorative coin for Znojmo's 800th anniversary, and taste regional wines. Admission to all exhibitions was free. The preparation involved dozens of Znojmo organizations, schools, and partners, including the Podyjí National Park Administration, HC Orli Znojmo hockey club, and Znojmo City Library.
