Festival of the Five-Petalled Rose in Český Krumlov
Český Krumlov
The Festival of the Five-Petalled Rose is a traditional historical city celebration in Český Krumlov, held from 19 to 21 June 2026 in the historic town centre. This year's 38th edition transports visitors to 1586, when Jan Zrinský, son of Eva of Rožmberk and Mikuláš Zrinský of Seryn, celebrates his 20th birthday. The main programme features seven historical processions – both daytime and evening – a historical craft market in the castle's first courtyard with period goods and demonstrations of historical crafts, live chess before a rotating amphitheatre, a historical dance hall in the Brewery Garden, a falconry yard with an exhibition of birds of prey, period military encampment in City Park, and a grand fireworks display on the castle terraces. The festival includes the Tournament of Roses on horseback in honour of the Zrinský and Rožmberk families. The highlight is a magnificent Saturday historical costumed procession through the town centre with mounted riders, fencers, jesters, drummers, and theatre performers. Evening programmes feature torch-lit processions and allegorical floats on the Vltava River. The festival attracts approximately 20,000 visitors annually, features over 500 performers, and offers approximately 150 programmes across 10 stages. Admission is paid; children under 6, holders of ZTP/ZTP-P cards, and visitors in authentic historical costume have free entry. Ticket pre-sales are available online at slavnostipetilisteruze.cz until 18 June 2026.
