Jan Zrinský

About

Jan Zrinský ze Serynu (c. 1565-1612) was a Bohemian nobleman, son of Eva of Rožmberk and the Croatian-Hungarian commander Mikuláš Zrinský, who died defending the fortress of Szigetvár in 1566. After his mother left for Italy, Jan grew up under the care of his Rožmberk uncles, Vilém and Petr Vok. Petr Vok eventually named him heir to the Rožmberk estates and in 1597 formally granted him the Rožmberk lordship, making Jan the last bearer of that illustrious lineage.
