Jiří Pavlica and the Hradišťan ensemble perform at Boskovice's Sokolovna on Sokolská Street on Wednesday, 4 November 2026 at 7 p.m. The historic Sokolovna, built in 1909 by the local Sokol gymnastics society, now serves as the city's main cultural venue. This concert is one of six Czech dates on the ensemble's tour. The main hall features a stage, foyer, and gallery, providing an appropriate setting for the performance. Admission is 740 Czech crowns.

About the venue: Sokolovna Boskovice

The historic Sokol hall on Sokolská street was built after the Boskovice Sokol gymnastics unit founded a building cooperative in 1909. Its large hall with a stage, anteroom and gallery now serves as the town's main cultural venue, hosting theatre performances, concerts, balls and exhibitions. From the very beginning the hall also functioned as a cinema. The venue is run by the Boskovice Municipal Cultural Centre, and the building houses the Sokolovna restaurant as well.

About: Jiří Pavlica

Czech violinist, composer and musicologist Jiří Pavlica was born on 1 December 1953 in Uherské Hradiště and has directed the ensemble Hradišťan since 1978. His artistic work draws from Moravian folk heritage while encompassing world music, jazz and sacred compositions - masses, oratorios and string quartets. The 1999 album O slunovratu, featuring poems by Jan Skácel, achieved platinum status and received the Žlutá ponorka critics' award; a collaboration with South African multi-instrumentalist Dizu Plaatjies resulted in the gold-certified album Mys Dobré naděje (2001). Under his artistic direction, Hradišťan has toured four continents and produced over thirty recordings.

Founded in 1950 in Uherské Hradiště, Hradišťan is a Moravian folk ensemble comprising musicians, singers and dancers. Led by violinist, composer and singer Jiří Pavlica since 1978, the group has become one of the Czech Republic's most original and commercially successful musical ensembles. Drawing on Moravian folk heritage, Hradišťan expands beyond traditional boundaries into classical music, jazz and world music, working with performers from diverse cultures worldwide.
