Jiří Pavlica (born 1 December 1953 in Uherské Hradiště) is a Czech violinist, composer and musicologist who has led the folk ensemble Hradišťan since 1978. Rooted in Moravian folk tradition, his output spans world music, jazz, and sacred compositions including masses and oratorios. His 1999 album O slunovratu, set to poems by Jan Skácel, went platinum and won the Žlutá ponorka critics' prize; his cross-cultural collaboration with South African musician Dizu Plaatjies produced the gold-certified Mys Dobré naděje (2001). Under his direction Hradišťan has performed on four continents and released over thirty recordings.
