Despite the Ruins (pre-premiere)

Pre-premiere of the dance project Despite the Ruins by Italian duo Macula - Priscilla Pizziol and Edoardo Sgambato. The performance takes place in public space as the opening event of the Immediatus Biennale 2026 festival.

Despite the Ruins is a site-specific choreographic project working with instant composition, exploring the relationship between body, landscape, and ways of inhabiting space. The central practice of the project is so-called instant de-composition - a score of radical listening that breaks down and reassembles perception, images, and actions. Form emerges in time, not in advance. The body functions as a medium of subtle accumulations; architecture and environment are not backdrop but active elements of the performance.

The project aims to develop embodied ecological awareness - an ethics of care and mutual interconnection rooted in lived experience. Choreography is not staged but cultivated: it creates changing processes rather than fixed forms.
