Hugo Pludek attends a garden party and quietly enters a world of institutions whose rules are as rigid as they are hollow. All it takes is learning the right words, mastering their rhythm - and meaning can be left aside. Career here grows from conformity, not conviction. Hugo rises silently, smoothly, almost unnoticed - yet the higher he climbs, the further he drifts from his family and from himself.

Havel orchestrates a subtly ironic and yet chillingly precise score about a world where language ceases to be a means of communication and becomes an instrument of power. A world in which an "ordinary" person can go very far - if willing to abandon themselves.

This production is a dialogue between a young generation of theatre makers and a key work - an attempt to understand and grasp Havel's legacy at a time when language and power structures are transforming anew.
