Fjord

A young Romanian-Norwegian family, the Gheorghius (Renate Reinsve and Sebastian Stan), settles in a remote village by the Norwegian fjords to start a new life. A warm welcome from their new neighbors is disrupted by unexpected accusations that upend her peaceful existence.

An investigation and trial ensue, pitting traditional family values against strict Norwegian child protection regulations. Cristian Mungiu's moral drama about cultural clash, parental love, and the right to decide the fate of one's own children won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
