Cristian Mungiu is a Romanian film director and screenwriter, a central figure of the Romanian New Wave. He won the Palme d'Or at Cannes with 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (2007). His film R.M.N. (2022), also in competition at Cannes, examines ethnic tensions within a multiethnic Transylvanian community.
