Renate Reinsve (born 24 November 1987) is a Norwegian actress who broke through internationally with Joachim Trier's The Worst Person in the World (2021), winning the Cannes Best Actress prize - the first Norwegian actress ever to do so. Trained at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, she began her career on stage at Trøndelag Teater in Trondheim. Her role in Trier's Sentimental Value (2025) earned her Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations, and in 2026 she starred in Cristian Mungiu's Fjord, which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes.
The film Fjord directed by Cristian Mungiu, in which Reinsve plays the lead role, won the Palme d'Or at the 79th Cannes Film Festival (May 23, 2026).
Reinsve was cast in the sci-fi horror film Backrooms by A24 alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor; filming was set to begin in summer 2026.
At the 98th Academy Awards ceremony (March 15, 2026), Reinsve was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the film Sentimental Value; the film won the Oscar for Best International Feature Film.
For her role in Sentimental Value, Reinsve won the European Film Academy Award for Best Actress.
