In the directorial debut of acclaimed cinematographer Jan de Bont, Keanu Reeves pursues a bus driven by Sandra Bullock. She may have lost her driver's license due to reckless driving, but that skill will come in handy - the main challenge this time is to never stop. Once the speedometer drops below 80 km/h, a bomb on the chassis detonates.

The bus and the plot never slow down, placing Speed among the action classics of the nineties. Keanu Reeves brought a new type of action hero here - a vulnerable everyman with whom men identified and women also liked. The success was mainly ensured by the combination of an action thriller and a detective story that doesn't let the audience catch their breath.

The film won two Oscars and five MTV Awards.
