Jeff Daniels is an American actor with a career spanning comedy and drama. He is known for Dumb and Dumber and the HBO series The Newsroom, for which he won an Emmy. In The Martian (2015) he plays Teddy Sanders, the NASA director overseeing the mission to rescue stranded astronaut Mark Watney.
