Silentium! brings the DESIDERIUM program to Brno's Besední dům on 15 April 2027, pairing works by J. S. Bach and F. I. Tůma. The Besední dům, a Neo-Renaissance building from 1870-1873 on Komenského náměstí, hosts one of nine Czech dates for this ensemble under the direction of Dagmar Valentová. The concert features Bach's motets Jesu, meine Freude and Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich alongside Tůma's Partita in A minor. The program weaves together German Baroque depth with galant style, centering on a dialogue between intimate motet and full cantata sound.

About the venue: Besední dům

The Neo-Renaissance building on Komenského náměstí was built in 1870-1873 to designs by the Danish-Austrian architect Theophil von Hansen. From its opening it served as the cultural and social hub of Brno's Czech community - Leoš Janáček worked here as choirmaster for twelve years. On 29 October 1918 the founding of Czechoslovakia was proclaimed from its balcony. Today it is home to Filharmonie Brno and hosts symphonic and chamber concerts, balls and conferences.

About: SILENTIUM!

Born in 2025 from Tereza Válková's years of experience in historically informed performance, the ensemble quickly earned a place at leading Czech festivals. Its programmes range from Renaissance madrigals and Baroque cantatas to modern-day premieres of long-forgotten Moravian composers.

For 2026, the ensemble announced two major events: world premieres of works from the Kroměříž archive under the baton of Tomáš Netopil and a Coronation concert with Andreas Scholl in Znojmo, Brno, and at Prague Castle.

About: Dagmar Valentová

Dagmar Valentová is a Czech violinist and violist specialising in historically informed performance. She trained at the Teplice Conservatory and was among the founding members of Musica Florea. After graduating she studied early music in Kraków and then spent two years in Milan with Enrico Gatti. She now performs regularly with ensembles such as Collegium 1704, Les Talens Lyriques, Holland Baroque and Concerto Copenhagen.
