A recital preceding two orchestral concerts will feature two celebrated sonatas by Ludwig van Beethoven - whose 200th death anniversary we commemorate in 2027 - alongside original compositions by Fazıl Say, some of which may still be taking shape.

Filharmonie Brno is a symphony orchestra founded in 1956 through the merger of the Brno Radio and Regional orchestras, ranking among the top Czech orchestras. It is based in the neo-Renaissance Besední dům designed by Viennese architect Theophil von Hansen, and has been known as a Janáček orchestra since its earliest days. It organises festivals including Moravian Autumn, the Easter Festival of Sacred Music, and a summer open-air festival at Špilberk Castle. On tour, the orchestra performs across Europe, the USA, Latin America, and the Far and Near East.

About: Fazıl Say

Fazıl Say is a Turkish pianist and composer born in 1970 in Ankara. He studied in Düsseldorf and New York and built an international career both as a performer and as a composer. His programmes often pair core classical repertoire - Beethoven, Mozart - with his own works, such as "1001 Nights in the Harem".
