About

SILENTIUM! ensemble is a Czech vocal-instrumental group that made its debut in 2025, founded and led by Tereza Válková, who spent 2008-2024 as choirmaster of Czech Ensemble Baroque. The ensemble focuses on historically informed performance of Renaissance, Baroque and Classical music on period instruments, while also presenting modern premieres of rediscovered works and new commissions. It collaborates with orchestras such as Concentus Musicus Wien and Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, and performs at major festivals including Prague Spring and Smetanova Litomyšl.

    A review in KlasikaPlus praised the March concert of the Aqua et vino et spirit program at the Besední dům in Brno as a dramaturgically clever and musically honest evening.

    For 2026, the ensemble announced two major events: world premieres of works from the Kroměříž archive under the baton of Tomáš Netopil and a Coronation concert with Andreas Scholl in Znojmo, Brno, and at Prague Castle.

    The SILENTIUM! ensemble will perform with the Brno Philharmonic and conductor John Butt in a program featuring orchestral suites by J. S. Bach and the Magnificat by C. P. E. Bach.

    The ensemble was included in the C subscription series of the Czech Philharmonic, where it participates in the performance of the St. John Passion by J. S. Bach under the direction of Nicholas Kraemer.

  • 2025-09

    In September 2025, the ensemble opened the 14th season of the Bach na Mozarta! cycle at the Church of St. John in Brno with a performance of Salieri's Piccolo Requiem.
