Bratři Ebenové
Městské divadlo, Jaroměř
Bratři Ebenové is a band of three brothers - Marek, Kryštof, and David Eben - alongside leading Czech musicians Pavel Skála, Jaromír Honzák, and Jiří Zelenka. Since their debut album "Malé písně do tmy" (1984), the brothers have stood apart on the Czech music scene with their distinctive approach. Sons of renowned composer Petr Eben (1929-2007), they received classical training while absorbing influences from modern folk, jazz, and rock. Their ability to draw from these diverse sources and employ unusual instruments created an absolutely unconventional sound - the unmistakable "Eben sound" that remains unmatched on the Czech scene.
Combined with Marek's exceptional lyrics, Bratři Ebenové have remained unique in Czech music. On September 1, 2023, the band released their sixth studio album "Co my víme" featuring 13 new compositions (11 on vinyl). All music and lyrics were written by Marek Eben, except the instrumental "Clafoutis" by David. Recorded at Birdland Studios in Povážská Bystrica with longtime sound engineer Tomáš Jakl and producer/guitarist Pavel Skála, the album features guest appearances by violinist Pavel Fischer and the children's choir Radost Praha conducted by Jan Pirner.
The album mix was handled by legendary British engineer Phill Brown, known for his work with Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Cat Stevens, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, and Dido. Mastering was entrusted to renowned British engineer Denis Blackham. Long-time collaborators Karel Haloun and Luděk Kubík handled the artwork, with photography by Dušan Tománek.
