Description was written before the event

After directors from the "fraternal" East Germany became interested in a Czech star, filmmakers from the other side of the Iron Curtain followed suit. By the early 1960s, Kurt Hoffmann was already well-established in Czechoslovakia with both critics and audiences, who particularly loved the witty comedy "The Inn in the Spessart" and the satire "We Miraculous Children". The name of a young Czech actress appeared first on the posters for "Gripsholm Castle". Although it is "merely" a charming summer story of a young couple, critics received both the actress and the film warmly – except for a few professional cynics who objected that Hoffmann had smoothed out the ironic island wit of Kurt Tucholsky's thirty-year-old novel source material too much. Two years later, Hoffmann and the actress collaborated again on a more significant project: "The House on Kaprova Street".
