KD Slavie is a cultural and creative centre on the bank of the Malše river, close to the historic centre of České Budějovice. The Neo-Renaissance building dates from 1871–1872 and is a listed cultural monument. Originally built as an association house for the German-speaking community of the city, it has been known as KD Slavie since 1993. It hosts concerts, theatre performances, balls, conferences and educational programmes.

About: Pavel Šporcl

Born on 25 April 1973 in České Budějovice, Pavel Šporcl is a Czech violin virtuoso trained at the Prague Conservatory, HAMU, and in the United States with Itzhak Perlman and Dorothy DeLay. He stands as the sole Czech violinist of his generation included in Henry Roth's Violin Virtuosos: From Paganini to the 21st Century and was awarded the Czech Medal of Merit in 2015. Playing an iconic blue violin crafted by Jan Špidlen, he has sold more than 230,000 CDs and performed on major stages worldwide including Carnegie Hall and Suntory Hall.

Šporcl released the rock album Rebel with the Blue Violin (Universal Music, 2024) and in April 2025 presented it with a concert at the Prague Municipal House.

In an interview with Czech Radio Radiožurnál, Šporcl explained why he turned to rock after fifty and how instrumental versions of rock hits work without vocals.

A French conductor whose career took off with the 2012 Donatella Flick prize and a close working relationship with the London Symphony Orchestra. After eight years leading the Orchestre National de Lille, he moves to Madrid as principal conductor of the RTVE Symphony Orchestra from 2026/27.
