Alexander Bloch

About

Alexandre Bloch (born 4 September 1985 in Angers) is a French conductor who came to international prominence by winning the Donatella Flick Competition in 2012, which led to a position as assistant conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra. He served as music director of the Orchestre National de Lille from 2016 to 2024, a tenure during which the ensemble was nominated for the 2020 Gramophone Award for Orchestra of the Year. From the 2026/27 season he takes up the post of principal conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica y Coro RTVE in Madrid, succeeding Christoph König.
