Description was written before the event

This moral and legal drama by Romanian director Cristian Mungiu won the Palme d'Or at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. It tells the story of a young family in a remote Norwegian village whose quiet life is shattered by an unexpected accusation from child protection authorities - pitting traditional family values against a rigid system.

Mungiu crafts an accessible yet analytically precise portrait of a society where everyone has their own truth.

About the venue: House of Culture Ostrov

A multipurpose cultural centre on Mírové náměstí in Ostrov near Karlovy Vary, built in 1954–1955 as part of a socialist garden-city development. The building in the socialist realist style features a sculptural group on the façade, an original fresco in the foyer, and stained-glass windows in the social halls. Together with the square, it has been a listed cultural monument since 1998. It houses a cinema and hosts theatre performances, concerts, and community events.
