Lenka Nová: Vila Tour

Vila Löw-Beer, Brno

entry v ceně welcome drink a prohlídka

There is no need to arrive early for our concert; we start at the scheduled time.

Vila Tour are intimate concerts in architecturally interesting venues with compelling human stories. Due to the size of the buildings, concert capacity is limited.

The ticket price includes a welcome drink — a dry white wine from the family Jindrov vineyard, an individual guided tour of the building with expert commentary from the heirs or guides, and a 70-minute concert by Lenka Nová with outstanding musicians (Josef Štěpánek, Matej Benko, Mikuláš Pokorný, or Lukáš Pelikán — in rotation).

Lenka Nová has been active on the Czech music scene for 35 years. Her repertoire is built on texts by Michal Horáček, Tomáš Belka, Lukáš Pavlásek, and other leading Czech lyricists.

Vila Löw-Beer at Drobného 22 was built in 1903 by the family of factory owner Moriz Fuhrmann according to a design by Viennese architect Alexander Neumann (1861–1947). In 1913, the villa was purchased by textile entrepreneur Alfred Löw-Beer (1872–1939), with renovations carried out by Viennese architect Rudolf Baumfeld (1903–1988). During World War II, the building was seized by the Gestapo; after the war, it briefly housed the State Security, and from 1954 to 2012 it served as a youth hostel. Today the villa is owned by the South Moravian Region and houses the exhibition "Jews in Moravia. The Villa and Its Inhabitants," which documents the history of Jewish settlement in the region from its earliest mentions to the present day.
