Alexander Hacke and Danielle de Picciotto return to European stages with their new album Lichtung — the first record Alexander Hacke has released since leaving Einstürzende Neubauten.
The album Lichtung is conceived as a tribute to their new home on the outskirts of Berlin, which the duo found after nearly fourteen years of nomadic life. Danielle de Picciotto returns to the piano on certain passages — an instrument she had to leave behind during their travels. Hackedepicciotto explore sonic possibilities at the intersection of drone collages and electronic rhythms; the backbone of the recording remains Hacke's bass guitar with its distinctive signature. The German lyrics deliberately pay homage to the Berlin environment that Hacke, as a key member of Einstürzende Neubauten, helped shape.
Alexander Hacke is also recognized as the author of the biography Krach, which he presents on author readings.
