hackedepicciotto is a Berlin-based experimental duo formed by Alexander Hacke - founding member of Einstürzende Neubauten - and Danielle de Picciotto, an American-born musician, visual artist, and co-founder of the Berlin Love Parade. Active since 2001, they build their self-described 'symphonic drone' sound from hurdy-gurdy, kemençe, electronics and bass guitar, releasing on Mute Records. After 14 years of nomadic touring worldwide, they settled on the outskirts of Berlin in the mid-2020s.
The duo released the album Lichtung (July 10, 2026, Mute Records) - their first studio album since 2021 and also their first recording sung exclusively in German.
Lichtung is also the first album by Alexander Hacke released after his departure from Einstürzende Neubauten.
The duo announced a series of concerts for the release of the album Lichtung, including performances in Berlin, Porto, and Lisbon.
In November 2024, their first live album The Best of hackedepicciotto (Live in Napoli) was released on Mute Records - a limited double vinyl of 500 copies spanning over 20 years of collaboration.
For the premiere of the live album, the duo organized a European tour that ended on December 18, 2024 at Berlin's Berghain.
