Architecture Day: Fryšava pod Žákovou horou - Furniture and Materials at Hotel Medlov

A guided tour focusing on the original furniture and material solutions of Hotel Medlov - from chairs by Antonín Šuman to armchairs from Hotel Thermal. The route includes a wine bar, winter garden, dining room, and the lift lobby.

The functionalist building was constructed in 1933 by entrepreneur Leoš Stehlík according to designs by architect Alois Wachsman. Originally it served as a hotel with a girls' camp. Between 1968 and 1973, the building underwent extensive modernist renovation designed by architect Jiří Herzán, giving it its present appearance with a distinctive "V"-shaped roof on columns, metal railings, and characteristic birch-plaster finish.

The all-day programme offers a series of thematic tours - from architecture through artworks and original furniture to the building's technical infrastructure. Special routes with views and an exhibition of iconic Antonín Šuman chairs in the hotel spaces are also included.
