Jaroslav Seifert: Literary and Musical Evening

On Saturday, 19 September, at the Parnas restaurant, we will commemorate the 125th anniversary of the birth of poet Jaroslav Seifert, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature.

The evening will feature selections from his early works and translations: poetic avant-garde ("On the Waves of TSF", reworked as "Honeymoon"), satirical and ironic texts from social-democratic publications ("Sung into the Rotary"), a tribute to Czech painters and poets ("Hand and Flame") and translations of love folk songs ("Love in Songs from Around the World", created in collaboration with Pavel Eisner, whose name could not be published during the Nazi occupation).

The poems will be recited by actress Kateřina Coufalová. Musical accompaniment will be provided by Ljubov Plavská with Persian and Eastern European music, and Aida Mujačić with Balkan music. Moderated by Pavel Straka.
