About the venue: National Theatre

The National Theatre is the representative stage of the Czech Republic and a symbol of national identity. Its Neo-Renaissance building, known as the "Golden Chapel," was designed by architect Josef Zítek and opened in 1883. The theatre brings together four artistic ensembles — Opera, Drama, Ballet, and Laterna Magika — and manages four stages, including the Estates Theatre and the State Opera. It is a designated national cultural monument.

About: Francis Poulenc

Francis Poulenc (1899–1963) was a French composer and pianist, member of the group Les Six. He wrote songs, chamber music, and choral works, but is perhaps best known for his opera Dialogues des Carmélites (1957), a powerful work depicting the fate of Carmelite nuns executed during the French Revolution.
