Zdeněk Mézl

Zdeněk Mézl (1934–2016) was a Czech visual artist, printmaker and illustrator. He was best known for his book illustrations for children and adults, as well as his woodcut prints. His work drew heavily on historical sources including antiquity, the Middle Ages, Mannerism and the Baroque. He also worked in painting and sculpture.
