The South Moravian Museum in Znojmo presents the exhibition "Landscape Swept by Time" in the Alšovka exhibition hall from 13 February to 31 October 2026. The exhibition offers a unique perspective on archaeological finds that lay hidden in the landscape for millennia, and illustrates the impact of human activity on the local landscape from prehistory to the early Middle Ages. Visitors will discover exceptional collections of ceramic and metal objects, so-called depots – stores or treasures that were deliberately placed in unusual and often inaccessible locations, such as rock crevices, wetlands, or water bodies. The presented exhibits include everyday items such as ceramic drinking and serving sets or bronze tools, but also luxury goods – jewellery and weapons of social elites. Many of the finds have parallels far beyond the borders of the Czech Republic, in the Danube region or the Alps, and document the involvement of prehistoric and early medieval societies in extensive trade and cultural networks. The exhibition was created as part of the regional project "Mysterious Places" (2025–2027), which aims to present the public with unique archaeological finds from the collections of South Moravian museums. The exhibition scenography, made up of wooden elements, was created by students of the Carpentry programme from the Znojmo vocational school on Přímětická Street. The exhibition curator is archaeologist Mgr. Alena Nejedlá, Ph.D. Accompanying events are being prepared, including guided tours with the curator and the "To Sword and Craft" event on the Feast of St. Methodius with the Voron historical fencing group.
